A Flexibility Mechanism on Admission, Graduation, and Degree Examinations for NCKU Graduate Programs in the Spring Semester of the 2020-21 Academic Year

Date of Notice: June, 17, 2021

1. In accordance with NCKU Enforcement Rules for Doctoral and Master’s Degree Examinations, graduate students intending to apply for degree examinations for the spring semester of the 2020-21 academic year are required to complete their examinations by July 31, 2021. However, under the instruction of the Ministry of Education, as written in its official letter coded as Tai-Jiao-Gao-Tong-Zi, No. 1100072591, dated June 11, 2021, degree examinations will be administered by NCKU in a flexible manner, as follows:

(1) Application Deadline:

The deadline for degree examination applications is the office workday before the opening date of school in the fall semester of the 2021-22 academic year.

   (2) Thesis/Dissertation Submission Deadlines:

  Students who complete the procedures for thesis/dissertation submission and departure from school by October 31 will be registered as a graduate in the spring semester of the 2020-21 academic year, with exemption from tuition payment for the fall semester of the 2021-22 academic year.

  Those who fail to complete the aforesaid procedures shall register, make tuition payment, and apply for study extension, in a special report, if applicable, for the fall semester.

Please schedule your oral defense for the dates appropriately to facilitate the administration of the procedures for departure from school.

It is recommended that your thesis/dissertation be submitted and uploaded online by October 15, allowing the Library to complete review of your thesis/dissertation by the deadline for departure from NCKU.

2. Master program students, enrolled in the spring semester of the 2020-21 academic year, who have been accepted by NCKU doctoral programs, shall first register for admission into doctoral programs with submission of an affidavit. However, those who fail to submit required degree certificates or related documents by October 31 shall be disqualified from admission.
